actually deers were the new owls. i skipped a step in there someplace, but you'd never know because them owls are all over the place.

I vote dinosaurs, with maybe hippoes/rhinos accompanying/close behind. Maybe giraffes too. Elephants are kind of already here, and seem to always be around.
