therefore, WHORANGE has put together a collection of beauty essentials with step-by-step instructions to help you achieve the look of beijing, glamour gold:
1). the pigtail kit by wu & wu contains every hair accessory you'll ever need. for optimal effect, be bold with combining bows with pompoms, or best yet, wear all of the accessories at once.
2). pin hair, lacquer, dust with glitter, spray.
3). generously sponge a one-inch swath of purple eyeshadow to lids. try nars eyeshadow in 'night fairy'. allow to dry. repeat.
4). sweep iridescent sparkle along lids and temples. try 'star powder' by make up forever in celadon.
5). swallow two xanax.

I think I have a picture of myself in exactly that eyeshadow... it was circa 1988 and my bf had just dumped me so I was MOVING ON and LOOKING GOOD.

'Night Fairy' + celadon + xanax +"Smile like you mean it" + the perfect picture = bwahahaha
The eye shadow I like. I applaud it. Rock it! You go, girls (even if gold glitter would have been a more appropriate choice)! But why oh why must you wear those silly pink barrettes with red and yellow spandex? Are you really trying your hardest to look older than seven?

Hahahaha. . .I told my mr. they were gobbing on all that make up to try to look older than 12.
Of course, your humor is much wittier than mine, and absolutely right on target.
Didn't all those hair clips defeat any age the makeup might have added??

As a general rule, if you want to be a gymnast competing on the international level, it's best to forget any progress made in fashion over the last 20 years and to simply slip back in to your comfy scrunchy lifestyle of 1988.

I've been watching the Chinese gymnastics team during the Olympics 2008. For some reason, the ghastly eye shadow they wear is very disturbing to me. I can't quite put my finger on why.
Who decided to use those colors of eye shadow on them? It makes China look way behind the times plus I think exploits the girls to some degree. They look like underage prostitutes. And it really does nothing to show off their faces at all.
The glitter in the hair was something our gymnasts did 10 years ago. I guess China found a back issue of a Gymnastics magazine from the US.
I am scratching my head over these decisions.

My husband and I not only joked about how the Chinese girls "rocked that lavendar eyeshadow and hair glitter," but their "high-ten" celebration after a good routine is so behind the times. They'll be doing "knuckle punches" in 2016, I suppose.
