listen up, kittens! our lovely friends at modernica are holding a pets on furniture photo contest. grand prize winner receives a panty-dropping, fiberglass, rocker arm chair! view today's entries here.
HERE ARE THE RULES: 1). take a pic of your pet posing on a piece of modern furniture; 2). email it to petcontest@modernica.net with "pets" in the subject line; 3). hope that you are selected as one of the top five picks; 4). sleep with several readers to garner votes (optional); 5). win the first round of fan voting and win a Downtown Dog Rescue calender or Cats of Lamu book; 6). sleep with more readers to garner votes (recommended); 7). win final round of voting and receive the rocker arm chair; 8). give rocker chair to me as a thank you gift.
i combed through my archives and found pix of my cats doing what they do best -- lounging. and, yes...their fur looks terrific:
{top left: veruschka on danish modern chair from the rose bowl flea market; top right: dylan poses on turquoise modernica shell chair purchased at the warehouse sale; bottom left: atticus on green "down with love" sofa from room service; bottom right: atticus on mid-century table from grandma with turquoise couch from flea market.}
so, get snapping, people! whether it's your spaniel on a saarinen or your mutt on a malm, put your furry friend to work and make them bring home the rocker gold.

I don't think my furniture is pretty enough for this contest. Also my cat sleeps on our laundry.

nice pictures. your furniture looks too good. do your kitties still have their nails? or are they trained like the von trapp kids?

Are you actually entering these pictures? YOu should. They are much better than the entries that are up for vote today.

PC - So funny because I actually wasn't planning on entering. These are pix I pulled for inspiration for readers, but, hmmm...maybe I should enter? Didn't think my pix were good enough.
Laura - Yes, our cats still have their claws. This is why most of our furniture is either fiberglass, Naugahyde, or vintage vinyl. Not my favorite choice of materials, but otherwise it would be a disaster. All of the fabric furniture (like the green chair) have pillows that aren't attached to the furniture so when the cat claws, it just falls away from the base, making it less enticing to their paws.
Jessy - it just so happened all of our cats are some form of Siamese. They are rescue, adoptions, etc. I love all cats, though and don't care about the breed. Bring 'em all on!

yay for rescue kitties and chic decor! enter, tula enter!
i've been combing the maison21 archives myself, for photos of my little ones on some of my modern pieces. unfortunately, it would seem that mona and richard are traditionalists (could have something to do with modern = firm, traditional = squishy).

Buying home theater furniture is one of the toughest jobs and also hardest furniture that you will ever purchase. The reason for bringing home this type of furniture is not only its aesthetic value, but also for experiencing ultimate comfort.

The special simplicity is the first impression of this design. The boldness and precursory lifestyle stick out the impressive feelings and present the fresh views on the warmhearted living space. Very great stuff!
