although i'm not a sports gal, i do love the olympics.
maybe it's the fierce fashion show during the parade of nations or the even fiercer make-up worn by dynamo gymnists with sparkly hair, all i know is i'm a fan. i cheer for the smaller countries and bow down to all of the athletes who dedicate their time, hope, and super-human skills for a moment that sometimes transpires in just a matter of seconds.
but, oh, girl...that london olympic logo is bringing me down. it looks like two abstract, breakdancing blocks and comes in an array of neon '80s colors. it's also politically controversial.
poor strange little logo. perhaps the olympic committee should have taken a more minimalist approach -- like these fab designs by samar abbas.

i admit, i never imagined spokane, WA, as the setting of a glorious mid-century home...but here it is -- the ferris house by architect bruce walker.
i especially love the eames-styled colored panels in the backyard. delish, indeed.

confession: my first concert was KISS. i was in the 5th grade and wore a feathered roach clip in my hair.
on that night, i developed a deep appreciation for loud music, glitter platform shoes, men in eyeliner, and of course...levitating drum kits.
