okay, kittens, it's happening...i'm gonna talk wedding.
for several months, the bitter queen in me has resisted subjecting you to bridal blathering. however, as the date draws closer, i find myself consumed with flyaway veils and chuppah construction rather than more whorangable items such as owl shows or lipstick tampon holders. don't worry, the phase will soon pass.
but, in the meantime, let me give you a little skinny on the wedding pretty...
picking the dress was easy. i walked into a small, low-profile boutique. my hair was unfabulous, i wore no makeup, a dress called my name, i stripped, i zipped, i purchased.
the shoes, however, have been another story. strappy shoes are so sadistically seductive, but unfortunately, i have the feet of a linebacker, so delicate just won't do. i need something strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.
behold -- eight pretty pairs that seduced me, then kicked me to the curb...
{above: left to right, top to bottom. kate spade lola (160.00); chinese laundry jet set (46.00); charles david dovey (109.95); caparros zelda (64.50); kate spade lyla (172.28); mackenzie (69.99); kate spade loupe (298.00); bandolino eira (58.95).}
it's okay. i'm already so over them.
now, if i could only find these sultry slides...
i think gloria would want me to have them!

Yes, those would be DIVINE. And while my feet are attractive enough, and no matter how many times I've submitted them to hours of excruciating pain, I CANNOT wear heels. They are pure torture for me. I don't know why.

For my wedding I skipped the white shoes because they are almost always strappy and impossible to wear. Instead I wore some vintage inspired red shoes with little bows on the toes. I was comfortable and mighty cute when the bows would peek out.

I had a similar experience with my shoes and dress. The dress was so easy, but finding the shoes was tough because they have to be comfortable enough to stand in forever, dance, etc.
Your post in hilarious. I like that you're sharing your experience with us. :)

I was wondering when you were going to start blogging about your wedding details. I say blog away! Especially the way you write about it. Something tells me it's not going to be all about poufy princess dresses and 6 tier swirly cakes.

Congrats on the wedding--so exciting. And don't worry, I love reading about wedding details! :)

You should start a wedding blog, Tula. I'd read it and I'm not even getting married. :)

Let's bring Gloria back and ask her where she got the shoes.

I love shoes, but they don't love me. My feet are more on the hobbit-y side, broad at the ball and narrow at the heel. Strappy shoes simply do NOT work for most ladies, though I did always think that petite ladies like yourself were best able to get away with them. I'm sure I can't give you any shoe advice you haven't already tried yourself, so I'll just shut up. :)

What would I do without all of you? It's nice to know that I'm in good company when it comes to the inability to wear strappy shoes.
OK, kittens, per your comments, I'm taking notes:
1. research vintage shoes
2. try air pumps
3. create separate wedding blog, because I'm guaranteed at least one reader (thanks, Hedda!)
4. find red shoes with bows
5. hold seance and ask Gloria where she got her shoes
