"sharpened, blotted, tied up and shredded" -- the perfect concept for a papery fashion photo shoot.
also, a great to-do list for the weekend!
check out the making of matthew brodie and hattie newman's paper dress photo shoot for madam magazine (march 2011) here.

darling, mama has needs, and i need this pad.
it's located in ojai, CA, and can be mine (or yours!) for 3.9 million.
if 3.9 million of people donate one dollar to me, i promise to throw fabulous parties and prance around the house wearing this outfit.
i promise!

over the weekend, i cruised on down to little tokyo and stumbled upon the wishing tree located in the japanese village plaza.
the wishing tree project began in july, courtesy of naoko ikeda, the owner of blooming arts gallery. naoko placed bamboo trees and colorful strips of paper, pens, and ribbons outside of her shoppe as a place for angelinos to write messages and offer wishes for post-quake japan. she states, "i want people here in los angeles to think about people in japan." plus, "when people are writing the wishes they look so happy."
personal wishes are also encouraged. everything from "wishing for peace, love & decent employment" to "i really, really hope she likes me" graced the trees.
of course, i made a few wishes of my own...
i'll keep you posted on their fruition.

tsumori chisato prepares for the runway and it's pretty perfection from head to toe.
from the pixie hair cuts to the pastel palette, it reminds me of mia farrow in the "feel-good" version of rosemary's baby (you know, the version where her baby isn't the spawn of satan?)
as for the glasses -- the eyes definitely have it. iris apfel would be proud.

a friend of mine recently renovated her kitchen and proudly told me, "i ripped out that old, avocado green, formica counter top and installed granite."
"why?" i asked with a faint wimper.
"because it was something my grandmother would have had in her kitchen," she answered.
okay, #1 her grandmother obviously had marvelous taste. #2, do not dismiss formica laminate until you've checked out the historical, 1959 wilson house in texas.
originally built as a residential home for ralph and sunny wilson, and then used as a corporate entertaining hub for wilsonart laminates, this 3000 square foot stunner is a showcase of all things plastic fantastic.
even barbie thinks so!
thank you, dee dee, for bringing the wilson house into my life.
{UPDATE: has been pointed out to me that formica and wilsonart laminates are two different products. the wilson house is comprised of wilsonart laminates. sorry about the confusion. please take note!}

confession: i once forged bjork's autograph.
yep. it was 1999. i was walking down the street in san francisco and a german tourist spotted me and thought i was bjork. he chased me down with a "Homogenic" CD and asked me to sign it. he was so sweet and excited, i didn't have the heart to tell him i was a bartender on the way to my 6:00 p.m. shift.
but, enough about me, my criminal past, and my swan dresses...let's talk about this phenomenal photo shoot!
last month, dazed & confused magazine celebrated their 200th issue and invited longtime supporter, bjork, to join them as guest editor. together, they created these magical images for all to enjoy. it's a dreamy wonderland come to life -- perfect from wig to toe.
by the way, bjork, if you ever need a break from your awesomeness, i'd gladly fill in for you. i know an german tourist who would approve.
