kittens, i'm in love!
matte stephens (one of my favorite artists in the whole wide world!) has a new book called selected works and it is ridiculously amazing. published by editions alto, each page takes you on a fantastical little vacation into a glorious world where refined walruses dine in central park, cats sport ascots, and octopi hitch rides with unsuspecting families on vacation.
i have probably featured matte's art on WHORANGE more than any other artist, simply because his illustrations make me happy. from blog giveaways to rare felted sculptures, matte has been an inspiration to me for several years.

did i mention this beautiful, hardbound book is written in both french and english? it was published in quebec, too. très bien!
treat yourself to a copy and put it down as a gift for that special someone on your list. available at matte's etsy shoppe.
thank you, matte!

Cute cats! I love Matte Stephens. So happy to see he has a book! His work reminds me of vintage French illustrations so it makes sense half of the book is in French.

So sweet! Definitely has a retro kind of feel to it. The colors are beautiful too.

Putting this on my Wish List right now. We have 2 of his prints in our house, and I still want more.

I had no idea Matte Stephens had a book! He's my husband's favorite. I got him a print last Christmas. Now I have a book for him this year!

The cats seem to be very interested in this book xD. In actual fact, the designs in this book are very nice and original, and it is a good thing that the artist decided to go to the publishing house and share the designs with the book world. Through this blog, you have also exposed part of the book to the world wide web, giving extra exposure to your favourite artist. Keep up the excellent work on this blog and thanks for sharing this with us.
