kittens, have you ever fantisized about turning your instagram photos into nail art?
yes, you say? me, too!
thanks to a super faboo app called NailSnaps (which is currently raising funds on kickstarter), you can decorate your digits with your favorite photos -- vacation pics, celebrity sightings, sleeping cats, technicolor sunsets -- the possibilities are endless!
the groovy app allows you to create a customizable design which spans across your nails (from your index to your pinky) to make a complete picture like a skyline. or you can target portions of your photo and assign the selected image to specific nails.
simply upload your photo, design your manicure layout, and NailSnaps will print your custom design onto nail polish stickers and ship them to you.
the nail polish stickers are easy to apply with zero drying time. woohoo!
i did some fantasy NailSnaps manicure mock-ups using photos from my instagram feed. check 'em out!
i even hand modeled for your visual pleasure...
above: photo of the inside cover of "star trek: the art of juan ortiz" (i added the gold confetti stars). cue up some david bowie -- instant heaven!
above: my NailSnaps fantasy manicure inspired by the mad men season 7 mural by milton glaser as spotted on beverly boulevard...
above: my MAN-icure mock-up using an instagram photo of steve dancing in front of the elliott smith figure 8 mural.

okay, now it's your turn to play with your photo manicure!
to get the ball rolling, simply support NailSnaps' kickstarter so they can build the magical app. donate $20 (or more!). it's all good. let's make this puppy happen!
fun fact -- angel anderson, the creator to NailSnaps, is one of my best friends in the world. she's brilliant, creative, innovative, and an overall fabulous gal. however, i'm not just giving this project good lovin' because i love angel, but because i think it's one of the best ideas around.
i'm excited to see everyone's inspired and groovy nail art. let's help make this world a little prettier one fingernail at a time.
xoxo

Omg YES!!! You are so cute. Only you would find a mid-century Star Trek. Will you design my manicures? Such a genius idea. I hope this gets the much needed funds. They are asking for a hefty sum, though.

This is amazing!!! I know a few ladies that would go crazy for this. I myself do not wear nail polish but I my friends spend so much time and money getting little designs painted on their nails. This seems much more practical and fun.

Great photos and a brilliant app concept! I love the Jonathan Adler "Eyelash" jar. You're a great hand model :)

Such a great idea. I hope they get funded. I will dig into my pocket and contribute what I can! Beautiful photos, too.

This is the coolest idea ever! I have never used nail polish stickers before so I'm not sure how they work, but if there is not drying time and they are easy to apply I am IN!!

Hi Laura,
I'm wearing the LOVE RING! It was designed by my friend Alexandra Grant. Isn't it amazing? It's available at the LACMA store. Sales benefit arts and artists' non-profit organizations. :) http://thelacmastore.org/products/love-ring-by-alexandra-grant
