this 1962 william cody palm springs pad was recently restored and re-loved by an owner who yearned to bring it back to its original and swell '60s style.
with the talents of architect thomas morbitzer and designer darren brown, the mid-century home was made pretty as a picture down to the pedro friedeberg hand chair, sputnik pendant lamps, and brass cube lav sets.
all that's missing is a cocktail cart, me, and you.

over the weekend, i found myself combing through apartment therapy's house tours and stumbled across the downtown los angeles loft of artist kelly reemtsen.
i've featured kelly's beautifully badass art a few years ago (vintage frocks and chainsaws...oh my!) and could not resist sharing her spacious and covetable loft. filled with vintage furnishing, paints and props, and her signature "kelly orange," miss reemstsen has created a perfect palace for inspiration and conjuring killer canvases.

kittens, it's that time of the month again...time for WHORANGE'S monthly pad.
today's pad comes to us from columbus, indiana, and is one of the most playful and purdiest around - the miller house. completed in 1957 for industrialist and philanthropist j. irwin miller, the building was designed by the one-and-only eero saarinen. yes, saarinen! and there is an illuminated tulip table to prove it!
alexander girard designed the interiors (and stayed on as the interior designer for 15 years) and dan kiley crafted the landscape architecture.
what could go wrong, right? the answer is nothing. nothing went wrong (at least visually).
behold the work of a mid-century dream team, darlings...
{above exterior: alexander girard's painted iron gate.}
{above living room: many of the home's rugs and textiles were custom designed by girard in shades of reds for winter and pastels for spring.}
{above living room: a sunken sofa sectional with stairs. perfect for a sleep overs, salons, or love-ins.}
{above living room: two words - cylindrical fireplace.}
{above dining room: an illuminated, saarinen, marble top, tulip table and chairs. yes...illuminated!}
{above dining room: girard rud and needlepoint chairs.}

did i mentioned the miller home is open for tours and coveting? get your passport and binoculars ready. read all about it here.

kittens, i 'm a tad hungover from the oscars last night. the cure: looking at pretty pictures of pretty pads.
my go-to place for dwelling eye candy is dabito's old brand new -- and look what i found! adam pogue's amazing loft in the heart of downtown los angeles. complete with a DIY denim patchwork sofa upholstery, macramé wall art, and dip-dyed curtains, mr. adam made his loft worth loving.
see all of dabito's gallery of adam's glorious home at old brand new.
i have a special place in my heart for guy pads.
perhaps it's because most of the fellas in my life have a unique knack for utilizing and streamling even the smallest of spaces (the broom closet office, anyone?) and they tend to get quite crafty in the DIY department (turn a discarded headboard into a wine glass rack...why not?).
which brings me to the solona beach pad of jonathan lo. if you don't know jonathan, you need to. he's the brilliance behind happy mundane and j3 productions, and has over a million followers on pinterest, because mr. lo knows a good thing when he sees it.
check out jonathan's diggable digs, which are brilliantly photographed by dabito of old brand new. his comfy, airy, and beachy pad is composed of vintage pieces and a few furnishing from IKEA that were cleverly turned into I-KANDY. can you spot them? (hint, hint -- bookshelf and desk).
the mix of vintage/new ceramics, blues, brass, and glass is perfect oceanside. makes me want to sip mango cocktails, take up pottery, and hula hoop on a surfboard. actually, most decor makes me want to do that.
also, if you want to know how to make a popcorn ceiling work, check it out. it's all about keeping it breezy and light and turning your overhead into a textured feature. and a ball light doesn't hurt.
neither does a whale.
